A few words about poop
Poop, it appears, is cute. Not real poop, of course, but it seems too many people without an intimate relationship with it have suddenly decided it's just the best ever.Thing is, if you've ever had to deal with projectile poop arcing out of an infants butt or a cat that just can't seem to hit the litter box, it ain't cute. That damn little emoji, though, it's made us fall in love with poop. I took the photo that accompanies this post at a big-box store. Row after row of poop emoji pillows. And international treasure Patrick Stewart himself is going to voice the poop in the upcoming Emoji Movie.Poop, my friends, is mainstream.I was thinking about that this morning when I took my dog for a walk. Yeah, she pooped and it wasn't cute like chocolate soft-serve ice cream. The goose poop minefield that I had to navigate through? Also not cute.My sons, of course, find poop to be extremely funny. Sometimes, if they're in an awful mood, all I have to do is say, "Fart" or "Poop" and they fall apart laughing. Scatalogical humor is not very sophisticated, but it works. I suppose that's why having someone a sophisticated as Sir Patrick voicing poop in a movie works - poop isn't supposed to have a upper-crust British accent! So there we have it: We now decorate our homes with poop. We are officially elementary-school children. But yeah, I bought a poop emoji toy for the dog. I mean, it's really funny.Photo credit: Me.
